July 1st, Canada Day 2012….

It is the day which united three colonies into a single country called Canada within the British Empire.
What better way to celebrate Canada’s Birthday than with a distinctly Canadian Band???  …..The Tragically Hip!! ???
The Tragically Hip was formed in 1983, and has won 12 Juno Awards. The band also has a star on Canada's Walk of Fame and was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 2005.
Recently, Kingston, Ontario (their home town) renamed a portion of the street by the city’s downtown stadium, the K-Rock Centre, the “Tragically Hip Way” in order to recognize the bands contributions to the community.
Not only have the Tragically Hip contributed to their community, they’ve given to others as well.  In February, 2012, the band travelled to Fort Albany, Ontario to play at an annual conference called the Great Moon Gathering.  The conference brings together educators from all of the eight Omushkego Education Authorities and surrounding communities to engage in rich professional development, share resources and ideas with one another.    http://www.thehip.com/archive/index.html?PA=4&IDNUM=7928
We’re very excited to have the Tragically Hip play for us at Burl’s Creek on Canada Day Long Weekend!! Can’t wait!
